‘Dream of Spix’s Macaw’, 30×40 cm, soft pastel and pastel pencils on cardboard, 2020.

‘Dream of Spix’s Macaw’ is a part of my art project ‘Extinction of Species’ and it reflects the surreal wish of the last bird remained in the wild to have its own family and offsprings. That can hardly come true due to extinction of spix’s macaw population, that’s why the desired partner and the chicks appear in the painting as ghosts.

The artwork was presented as a title image at online exhibition ‘Wild Nature’ held by National Pastel Society of Russia in August, 2020.
